Gas traction springs — controlled pulling force for demanding applications
Gas traction springs deliver a permanent pulling force and reliably move components back into a defined end position — engineered and manufactured by Stobo.
Unlike a gas spring, the piston rod of a gas traction spring retracts into the tube when unloaded. This makes the gas traction spring ideal for applications where components should automatically return to a closed position — for instance safety flaps, security doors and reset mechanisms.

Frequently asked questions on Gas Traction Springs
What's the difference between gas traction and gas springs?+
A gas spring pushes the rod out of the tube when unloaded; a gas traction spring pulls it in. Gas springs open and hold; gas traction springs close and reset.
When should I use a gas traction spring?+
Whenever a flap, door or component should return automatically to a closed or retracted position — without additional mechanical springs or actuators.
Are custom lengths possible?+
Yes. Stobo manufactures gas traction springs as custom builds in virtually any stroke/length combination.
