Stainless gas springs — advantages and fields of use

When are stainless gas springs worth the investment, and what concrete advantages do they bring? An overview for designers and buyers.

Corrosion resistance

Stainless gas springs in 1.4301 or 1.4404 are permanently corrosion resistant — also under the influence of salt, acid or cleaning agents. This makes them the first choice for marine applications, food production and outdoor designs.

Hygiene and cleanroom

In food production, pharma and cleanroom technology, smooth easy-to-clean surfaces are mandatory. Stainless steel meets these requirements and can be treated with aggressive cleaning agents without tarnishing.

Aesthetics and value

In designer furniture and the premium caravan industry, stainless steel is a visible quality factor. Even when function is comparable, a visible stainless gas spring conveys value and durability.

Economics

Stainless gas springs are more expensive to purchase but avoid maintenance, replacement and corrosion damage. Over the full service life they are often the more economical solution.
